Island Peak Climbing

This is the most popular trekking peak in Nepal. The mountain itself is the extension of the South Ridge of Lhotse Shar separated by a small col. The ridge rising to the south from this point leads to the summit of Island Peak. Before scaling the peak, you will have an opportunity to visit the most popular trekking destinations - Everest Base Camp and Kala- Patthar for the close up views of Mt. Everest and other highest mountains. From the summit you will have a glimpse of some of the most spectacular scenery of Himalayas in the Khumbu region from the massif mountains- Nuptse (7879 m), Lhotse (8501 m), Lhotse Middle Peak (8410 m) and Lhotse Shar (8383 m) in the north to the views of Makalu (8475 m) in the east, Baruntse and Amadablam in the south. Island peak climbing will surely fulfill the dream of the climbers wanting to experience the thrill of adventure.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive in Kathmandu & transfer to hotel

Day 2: Kathmandu city tour & trek/climbing preparation

Day 3: Fly Kathmandu - Lukla (2,800 m) & trek to Phakding (2,652 m)

Day 4: Trek to Namche Bazaar (3,440 m)

Day 5: Rest day at Namche Bazaar for acclimatization

Day 6: Trek to Tengboche (3,870)

Day 7: Trek to Pheriche (4,200m)

Day 8: Trek to Lobuche (4,930m)

Day 9: Trek to Everest Base Camp (5364 m) Gorak Shep (5170 m)

Day 10: Trek to Kala Patthar (5545 m) & back to Lobuche

Day 11: Cross over Kongma La (5,535m) & trek to Chhukung (4,730m)

Day 12: Trek to Island Peak Base camp (5,200m)

Day 13: High Camp (5,600m)

Day 14: High camp to summit Island Peak & back to Base Camp

Day 15: Reserve day in case not being able to attempt the summit due to bad weather

Day 16: Trek to Chhukung

Day 17: Trek to Namche Bazaar

Day 18: Trek to Lukla

Day 19: Early in the morning, transfer to airport and fly back from Lukla to Kathmandu
