The trek begins from Sundarijal, a Himalayan river-fed water reservoir and climbs onto the Shivapuri ridge offering gorgeous views of GauriShanker (7,134m), Langtang Lirung (7,246m) and Ganesh Himal (7,405m).
Following a ridgeline the trail passes through Kutumsang (2,460m), the first permanently inhabited village of this course and climbs through cool rhododendron forests (crawling with leeches during monsoon) to Tharepati (3,597m), the highest point of the trek. The trail from Tharepati plunges 1,000m to a tributary of the MelamchiKhola and above it the aging village of Melamchi-gaon. The gompa set on the toTarkeGhyang commands excellent views of DorjeLakpa (6,996m) and Ganja La to the north. The next few days walk is through interesting MelamchiKhola valley to Talamarang and the paddy fields of MelamchiPul Bazaar.

Itinerary
Day 01: Arrival Kathmandu and transfer hotel
Welcome you at the airport and transfer to hotel. A short briefing and introducing the guide in the evening
Day 02: Kathmandu. To Chisopani (2150m)
Overland drive to Sundarijal and then the trek begins.The trail goes uphill through forest to reach to MulKharka village. From here you will enjoy a panoramic view of Kathmandu valley. The trail goes through fir tree forest and rhododendrons
Day 03: Chisopani to Gulbhanjang (2142m)
The trail goes downhill up to PatiBhanjang. After that you have to ascend all the way to Chipling by crossing meadows and fields. There you will find good mountain views along this stretch of trail. Continuing along the forested ridge, the trail descends to a large Chorten overlooking the Tamang village of GulBhanjang.
Day 04: GulBhanjang to Tharepati (3597m)
The trail climbs the ridge from GulBhanjang to another pass at 2580m. It climbs above Kutumsang on a steep, eroded trail, mostly through fir and rhododendron without permanent settlement .The trail makes some ups and downs passing through forest, across flower-strewn meadows and crossing streams. It finally reaches to Tharepati for overnight.
Day 05: Tharepati to Melamchigaon (2560m)
Walking down hill in a bamboo forest .Vegetation changes to scrub bamboo as the route joins a rocky cattle trail towards to stream and traverse to a Chorten and a pasture, the first village since Tharepati. After crossing suspension bridge in ChhyadiKhola we will climb to reach the prosperous Sherpa village of Melamchigaon. It is a large village with extensive fields of barley, corn and potatoes.
Day 06: Melamchigaon to Tarkheghang (2560m)
The trail drops down to cross MelamchiKhola then climb all the way to opposite ridge of Tarkhegang which is exactly at the same altitude. This village is slightly larger and more commercial and its inhabitants are famous for selling Thangkas .
Day 07: Takheghang to Kakani( viaShermathang) 2000m
Today, you will visit Shermathang village and descend the ridge enjoying the view of Melamchi bazaar. The path continues from the Gangjwal and goes around the valley and small stream. When a large valley stretches ahead,we will pass above the hamlet with a Gompa. The path becomes a gentle ascent and leads to the pass until you will reach Cautara at the end of ridge. Now you are in Kakani.
Day 08: Kakani to Melamchipul to Kathmandu.
Without climbing the hills, the trail goes through Dubhachaur and Kaphalgiri village (crowded with thatched roof houses). Go through the pine forest path becomes like a steep ditch. Cross through the wooden bridge at MelamchiKhola you will reach Melamchi bazaar. From Melamchi Bazar we will take a transport to reach Kathmandu.
Day 09: Full day sightseeing in Kathmandu.
Full day sightseeing tours of Hindu temple complex at Pashupatinath & the biggest Buddhist Stupa at Boudhanath and Monkey Temple the Swyambhunath and Kathmandu Durbar Square Return and return to the hotel.
